The WordPress text editor is a great tool to nicely format text and content. But for many developers and in many scenarios this formatting comes in the way of the original design approved by the client.
In that case you might wanna turn of the default WordPress formatting that adds paragraph and line brek tags wherever it deems necessary. And you can do so by adding this short snippet anywhere in the template of a WordPress theme. But it is recommended to be used in functions.php of the theme.
What this code does is remove the wpautop function from the the_content. Any there is even better usage of this feature if you put it inside a php file and put it inside wp-content/plugins directory. This way you may use it for more than one themes.
